Congress of Humanities and Social Sciences @UBC

Randy Shore has an article in the Vancouver Sun today about this huge conference coming into town. Given the intro, it seems like we could boil the conference to World Peace. All joking aside, it looks like this is a serious gathering of academics to talk about everything under the sun that affects our society/-ies and our world.

I know one of my friends will attending this conference with interest in food security issues and topics in religion. You can also attend community lectures open to the public. Check out the Congress 2008 site for more details. The Congress runs from today (May 31) to next Friday (June 6).  Now I wish I had taken a day off or two if I knew it was open to the public earlier.
