Some of you many not be aware of this great program at SFU Harbour Centre. It’s called the City Program. The program is headed by former City of Vancouver councillor, Gordon Price, and is designed mainly for urban planners. However, they do offer up some lectures that are open to the public. They’re next free lecture is this Thursday, June 5 at 7pm. It features architecture critic Christopher Hume from Toronto. He is often found in the pages of the Toronto Star.
Unfortunately, I can’t attend the lecture myself as I will be going to a different lecture downtown that evening.
You can also watch some of the previous lectures that they have offered. They have a page of streaming video. My recommendation is to watch Gordon Price’s lecture on Surrey as the Second Great City. Hopefully, you won’t run into streaming problems like I had originally.
