More from our friends at the Sightline Institute based in Seattle. Sightline often tries to keep its pulse on all things Cascadia, which includes B.C, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and parts of Northern California.
This year’s edition is full of interesting charts. B.C. and Vancouver seem to do fairly well overall, but still have room to improve. Our expected lifespan in southern B.C. is the highest in the region. Our cities are compact and “green” compared to our southern neighbours, but we are still riddled with urban sprawl and could do much better in compact growth. Economic scores are unstable on both sides of the 49 and energy use has gone up significantly in the past year.
