Inhabitat » Taiwan’s Solar Stadium is 100% Powered by the Sun.

Put this one under the category of “WOW!”  A 100% solar powered stadium is such a simple idea that I’m surprised nobody had built one earlier.  With such a huge structure, you could easily cover it with photovoltaic cells and power the whole sucker.  I’m not sure what the average amount of sunlight is in Taiwan, but it would definitely be way more than our part of the world.

Now we just need a way to harness the power of the rain (whatever that would be) in Vancouver and design buildings and structures to take advantage of our obscene amounts of rain during the winter.  I haven’t looked at the BC Place redesigns but I doubt it will look as impressive as this solar stadium in Taiwan.
