After a morning on the Île de la Cité, we went in search of some food along the Left Bank. We crossed the bridge over to the Left Bank and was greeted with many closed shops and restaurants. It was still somewhat early on a Sunday morning. Not to mention France is mostly famously closed on Sundays. No matter. We pressed on in hunger.
Maybe you’re a shopper. Maybe you’re not. Whether you are a shopper or not, Nordstrom has changed the fabric of Downtown’s shopping scene and created a new urban space to explore. I even compiled a video of my visit to Nordstrom on its opening day. You can find the video at the end of this post.
After a two-year wait, it’s finally here in my hands. A real, functioning Compass Card. The new smart cards for use on all TransLink vehicles is available to the general public. I had my taste of the Compass Card 2 years ago as a beta tester, but now I can finally say goodbye to my monthly paper FareCard and to those paper FareSavers that go missing oh so easily.

The next day, my back was still in pain, but the brace helped to limit the pain a bit. This Sunday morning, we’d be heading to church. More accurately, we were heading out to the first of our several cliché sightseeing destinations – Notre-Dame de Paris.
After a wasted morning in Paris thanks to putting my back out, I had to go out and try to experience some of Paris. Complete with back brace and ongoing pain, we headed off to les grands magasins of Paris. Namely, we were going to hit up the two most famous department stores in Paris – Galeries Lafayette and Printemps.
