Gondola for Burnaby Mountain as a transportation alternative. It definitely has some potential there. I’m not sure if I would like to jostle with the students up the mountain. It would have to depend on how large the cars are and how frequently they run. However, kudos to thinking of the idea.
Other places have tram/gondola type services in place to move people, although most of the ones I’ve been on are part of tourist attractions. The Peak Tram and Ngong Ping 360 in Hong Kong would be examples of alternative transportations that we don’t usually think about. However, these two are not part of most people’s daily commutes in Hong Kong. Portland also has one that I plan to visit some time, but I’m not sure if that’s a commuter option. Then, there is the much mentioned and newly opened Peak 2 Peak gondola in Whistler.
I wonder if SFU should invest in a ski hill idea now to capitalize on the resort potential. You think?
